Hi All,
Just thought I'd drop a note saying that between May 12 and 16, I will be in
Pond Inlet, Baffin Island (Grid Square FQ12AQ). While I will be there on
business, I will be bringing my TH-F6A, and will attempt to work AO-51 in my
spare time. Unfortunately, I don't think I can get an arrow antenna or
other hand-held beam in time, so I'll be stuck with a whip.
Anyhow, I would appreciate any tips or suggestions for this endeavour, and
look forward to the experience.
Regards,
Hans Johnson

Hello All,
At about 2043utc on 2 May 2008 I commanded AO-16 back ON. Apparently the
increasing eclipse periods require another reduction in the transmitter output
power. AO-16 is now back and operational in voice repeater mode, with a
slightly reduced output. It is reporting around 1.2 watts output, so it is
still quite loud.
AO-16 is again configured for voice mode and is open for normal operations:
Uplink: 145.920 MHz FM
Downlink: 437.0260 MHz DSB (LSB and USB).
Users of AO-16 are encouraged to report any aberrant operations by either
posting to the AMSAT-BB or by emailing the command team at n8mh AT amsat.org
"Aberrant operations" might include the following: complete loss of signal
from
the spacecraft or significant change in the transmitter frequency.
Oh behalf of the command team,
Mark L. Hammond [N8MH]

Happy Friday, everyone!
Does anyone have any Keps for the SEEDS satellite?

All,
I have an old Yaesu G-500A elevation rotator mated to a Yaesu G-800SDX
and would like to use computer controll for both. They each have their
own controller, but they do not have buit-in computer controll boards.
Idiom ( http://www.idiompress.com/rotorcard.html ) makes a board for the
G-800SDX, but I can't find anything for the G-500A.
What would be the best inteface / boads to use with this set-up? The
Yaesu GS-232 interface is a bit pricy and was wondering about an
alternative. I use NOVA software for tracking.
Thanks,
Tony -K2MO

Hello All,
Finally heard Delfi-C3 during 2008/05/03:2310 UTC pass. Pity, I was tracking
SEEDS' digitalker and SSTV at the time. At least I know it works.

Hi Tony K2MO
The G-500A like the KR-500 elevation rotators have only UP and
DOWN manual switches and do not have relays into the controlbox to
use it through computer control.
I did the modification inside a KR-500 controller using basically the same
circuit of the G-5400
In a separate email I have sent to you the schematic diagram of it.

I believe that Nova supports the FOD-Track interface, which should work with
the both rotors, AFAIK. The PC board is available from FAR Circuits
www.farcircuits.net or you can breadboard it easily enough. The complete
package of schematics, board layout, etc. is available to download from the
AMSAT website.

I was just looking at the Fox Delta model# ST3 automatic rotor control unit
at www.foxdelta.com <http://www.foxdelta.com/> . Seems like a good unit. The
price is good. Has anyone used this unit yet. Its pretty new. Doe anyone
have an opinion of how it or older Fox Delta trackers compare to other units
like the G6LVB tracker, Yaseu GS-232, etc.

Heard SEEDS digi-talker and SSTV this morning (2008-05-03)
during 00:34 - 00:45 UTC. Not heard in the next pass.
Signal was unstable, I'm trying to decode SSTV pic.

Dear All,
Here are two morning passes over West Malaysia:
1. Delfi-C3, 145.930 Mhz,
Tracking Object E at 1016 local or 0216 UTC
Max Elevation: 39 degrees
Comments: Unfortunately, RASCAL could not decode any packets during this
pass. Not sure if it is due to my PC or some other matters. Wonder if the
Delfi-C3 team could decode them? I wonder if the MP3 file will work? The
full wave file is available on request.

2. SEEDS, 437.485 MHz,
Tracking Object J at 1154 local or 0354 UTC
Max Elevation: 7 degrees
Comments: Good copy for 7 degrees. Just wished I had another Yagi for
simultaneous Cute-1.7 copy too.
