Hi Sion,
I listened to the file, and it sounds fine. The only thing is that you were
probably tuned slightly to high, giving a too low audio pitch (on USB mode
that is) so that the carrier frequency is outside the capture range of
RASCAL (1400-1800Hz). If you have a program that can make a waterfall
display like spectran or MixW, you can try running that parallel to RASCAL
and try centering the signal on 1600Hz, best is to do this during the
transmission of AX.25 flags between the frames since these give discrete
spectral lines spaced 150Hz and the strongest one is the carrier which
should be around 1600Hz. RASCAL may sometimes gives false sync indications
with strong signals since it then tries to lock onto one of the sidebands.
hope that helps!

became erratic for 4-5 seconds and some packets were lost(the sound of
the transmitter became "rough" and distorted) Packets uploaded to the

Gould,
Please don't construe my remark as criticism, it wasn't !!.
I'm a great fan of all the unpaid workers of AMSAT ... I used to be one myself
... it was just a bit of attention-grabbing (misplaced?) Limey humour ...
(believe it or not I actually get requests to submit 'typical La2qaa idiocy'
with further "Observations From Norway"
(an old Oscar News & Amsat Journal column) but old age and self induced
Altzheimers has finally caught up with me so I only get the occasional whim
from time to time.
I occasionally use the bb bandwidth to remind a few of my Stateside friends
that I'm still teetering on the brink but havn't actually fallen into the hole
yet - so they'll just have to hold their horses "down there" until this old
carcass is ready to douse the fires.
My sincere apologies if you think I was criticising Gould.

I put SEEDS SSTV picture on my web site. This is my best shoot. It's
hard to take high quality picture.
http://www.ne.jp/asahi/m-arai/gkz/pic/20080502140-SEEDS.jpg
SEEDS sends only one SSTV picture which is stored in S/C about every
two minute when she is in Digi-talker mode. Please try to take high
quality one.

I too had trouble and this is what I have done.
For now I have put aside regular sat ops to focus on the cubesats.
Inside your satpc32 folder you have a sub folder called Keplers I believe,
inside that you will find a file called nasa.all
You can make a new text files with the keps for the cubesats.... I have
created cubesats.txt
Now open up satpc32 and click on FILE -- OPEN... you should be able to open
your cubesats file and selesct wich objects you want to track, also what I
did was rename the objects to which satellite they aledgedly are.
I then setup my DOPPLER.SQF file with frequencies and operating modes for
each one I am interested in using right now, so I can do some doppler shift
control with the computer.

Fred,
I have noticed the same thing about the volume indication. Since it decodes
well, it seems likely that it is an indication problem rather than real low
audio, and have just ignored it.

Bill,
Charles' way is probably the best, but you can also cut and paste. Cut the
latest update(s) and then paste into the NASA.ALL or whatever you normally
use. (Usual rules to use a simple ASCII editor apply.) This has the
advantage of keeping everything in one file, and also allows for the
eventual time when the new birds are added into the regular distribution.
The bit about setting up the Doppler correction is the same for either
method.
A couple of tips. Drilling down to the Kepler directory every time is
tedious, so I have created a shortcut for the Kepler directory. Also, some
of the TLEs I have seen posted don't decode properly due to what appears to
be a mangling of the spacing.

Hello all,
Mike Rupprecht DK3WN has reported no signal from AO-16 as of 1200UTC on 3 May
2008. Again, a reasonable explanation for AO-16 to cease transmitting is
that the increasing eclipse periods are too long to sustain operations at the
previous transmitter output setting. As you are witnessing, the sustainable
power budget is being determined empirically by me, with "best guess"
settings. We are in uncharted territory here, folks!
When AO-16 is silent, as it is right now, the batteries continue to charge
with minimal current being drawn to sustain the vital functions of the
satellite (CPU). Thus, it is in a safe resting state at the moment, and the
batteries continue to charge when in sunlight. Thanks to a brilliance in
design, construction, and coding, the bird is hardy and excellent at self-
preservation.
Rest assured that I will investigate and get some telemetry from AO-16 as soon
as my schedule, and the satellite's visibility at my QTH, cooperate. Perhaps
that will be as soon as this afternoon; but it may be tomorrow.
In the meantime, please do not transmit to AO-16 until further notice.
Attempts to uplink to the satellite in voice mode compete and complicate my
ability to command the bird. Your cooperation will be appreciated.
I'll provide updates via this list when more information becomes available.
73 on behalf of the command team,
Mark L. Hammond [N8MH]

Hi
On my website I have placed an mp3 recording of SEEDS
digi-talker and SSTV picture of today (10:15utc).
http://www.qsl.net/pa3guo - click in left menu on SEEDS.
Having these messages broadcasted from space is a kind
of cool: keeps you interested to hear what's transmitted
today, and what they say (or sing ?).
Not all seems to be in English, but I like the messages.
Nice work of the SEEDS team !
