I don't use any wireless device around the shack too much problem with the
birdies and noise (Good old RJ-45 blue cable only) . On 2.4ghz i
have to switch off my X-10 wireless camera i got a S9 pLus 40 of a steady
noise carrier.

I watched DELFI C 3 when he goes out eclipse. As soon as he get some light he
start to transmit his data but and as reported by some
listeners he stopped transmitting after one or two minutes and he normally
does not come back even if he's in full light.

My question: is it normal or is it a problem?

Thank's for your inputs

P.S. SEEDS is now in CW TLM mode i try to decoded with CWGET but he's not
reliable i will have to recorded and decoded it after...Pain in
the neck as my CW is a "bit" rusty Did any one try another CW decoder who at
least put gaps between TLM strings?

Too lazy to copy CW

Renauld,

I still have eproms for 3.50D and upgrade kits to go to the Turbo version.
Contact me if any of this interests you. Please let me know if you solve
your problem so we can help others who still use the Trakbox. I currently
have 4 working Trakbox Turbo's and use them all the time when working the
satellites.

Hi,

For the last two days I noticed that signals from Delfi-C3 over Europe
are not so strong as they were in the first 6 days. I have the same
antenna setup which consists of a 9 element Yagui on my balcony (no
rotor and abt 10 deg North/ 10 deg Elev.) and TS-2000. Anyone noticed that?

Actually, I'm getting worried about Kenwood overall. At last look they have
2 HF radios, 4 mobile radios and 4 portable (HT) radios available, 3 if the
TH-D7A(G) has been discontinued. From what I heard they had very little to
offer at Dayton last year and this year could be an indicator on what's up
for the future.

On the other hand I had a problem with a wired Netgear hub. If I remember
correctly the birdie was S9, and around 145.800 or right on the ISS Mir d/l.
I had to unplug the wall wart from the hub to power it off, to work that
frequency. It was the hub, not the power supply, or Ethernet cat5 cable.
When I switched over to a hybrid (wired and 2.4 gig RF) Linksys router I was
able to eliminate the wired hub that was causing the problem. I work AO51
L/S no problem. I still run wire to my main computer and also downstairs in
my house as it is much faster than the Wireless G. How much faster?
According to Speakeasy speed test, wired 28212/2696 kbps, best rf (6 feet
away)10094/2646 kbps. BitTorrent notices a big difference!

I also tried several different hubs, from different manufactures, all
three of them had the same birdie, the problem went away when I went
wireless. Go figure...

Hi all,

another status update of the Delfi-C3 satellite:

1. Delfi-C3 is now in orbit for over a week, and continues to perform well.

2. We are aware of the transmitter distortion and drop outs occurring. These
two are related, and are not related to the transmitter itself, but are the
result of a power / attitude issue combined with the way our Electrical
Power System works. Thanks to all your reports we now have a clear view of
what is happening, and are in the process of taking corrective actions while
the s/c is over our groundstation. We are taking these actions step by step
so the phenomenon will continue to occur over the coming days. Your reports
on this phenomenon are welcome.

3. We are still not sure which TLE's correspond to Delfi-C3, so it is indeed
kind of like a lottery hi:) Time will tell, since the s/c will drift further
apart over time, so that we can discriminate better between the individual
satellites. During the last days, our groundstation has been using object
#32789 with good results.

4. There have been a number of orbits where the spacecraft entered
"emergency mode". Up till now, every eclipse (reset) has cleared these
issues. We think we have an understanding of what causes this. If you hear
the satellite in emergency mode, your reports are appreciated, either on the
BB or at missioncontrol(AT)delfic3.nl

5. Today we tried listening to the satellite using handheld receivers and
Arrow antennas, on the groundstation roof. Delfi-C3 was nice and strong
during this overhead pass, we had a tremendous amount of fun as you can see
from the photos at

http://www.delfic3.nl/photoblog/

It was a magnificent feeling to be staring into the blue sky knowing that
our spacecraft was somewhere up high.

6. Up till now we have received 70000+ AX.25 telemetry frames from the
satellite on our servers, thank you all for listening and submitting
telemetry!

Wouter Jan Ubbels PE4WJ

I suspect that you are hearing the CPU or clock running since I get it
also all over the HF bands also.

I turn it off but that is a pain. I'll try the ferrites on the wiring.

Someone point me to more info on the Linux SW for the router?? Sounds
like something to do regardless.

I have had a few requests, so here is what I know...
I used the DD-WRT version successfully on the WRT54G routers.
DD-WRT now supports over 80 devices :-

I just did a Google Search for Linux wrt54g and got lots of hits
www.ddwrt.com
www.sveasoft.com
www.openwrt.org

Just as a reminder... This will void any warranty. I am NOT responsible for
any one blowing up their router. You can make your router totally useless...
You can also improve the RF signals, make them more secure and have a lot of
fun....

I have seen some issues with hubs and switches, not usually from routers
(have had a couple fail). I have not seen too many shielded CAT cables (I
bet not cheap). You will find that CAT6 or CAT5E will give you the quietest
cables (tightness of the twisted pairs). The newer cables usually have four
different twist rates and a way of separating the pair to keep noise off of
the each other. That was one of the reasons I have suggested these style
cables. I do my own wiring, but I do have all of the right tools and I have
certified my drops. Just a bad work habit ;-)

Hope that helps
