Hi Bob.

There is a pre-amp kit available over here for about $70 which gives 0.26dB
noise figure and 34dB gain at 1296MHz. Without resorting to cavity
designs, this sounds pretty state of the art and is been used for EME.

_http://www.g4ddk.com/_ (http://www.g4ddk.com/) Apparently, Sam accepts
paypal and has variants of the design for 2.4G and 3.4G

Thanks

David

Hello Domenico & all
Thanks for all the information. The measured F/D ratio works out to
0.375, therefore a patch would be appropriate. As mentioned earlier I would
be
content to just be able to receive EME (for now). For transmitting no doubt
a
different feed would be needed. Currently I am looking around for a preamp.

To my knowledge it was P3-B (OSCAR-10) with Ariane-1 L06. And yes, they
had to pay some money because P3-B was bumped by the last rocket stage
and did not get it to the planned orbit....

But forget it... in the early days it was still expensive, but not
comparable what you nowadays have to pay for such insurance.
However, some launch providers (like Arianespace) will give you now a
free launch in case the launcher failed...

Hi!

Just switched from using the G-5400B controller to the G-5500 controller and
need someone to give me a lesson on how to calibrate the new controller.
Would like to get in touch with someone using a simular setup, the ARS
RCI-SE board and the G-5500 controller.

Peter I am pretty sure it was not Oscar 10 but the launch before it...AS I
recall Phase3A was launched with a spacecraft called "firefly"...and one more
which I dont remember (AMPTE?)and of course all three were lost..

But I agree now days the money is absurd.

Sure wish we had Oscar 10 back...
