Is there anything going on with p3e, or is it a fantasy to think

Hello Folks,
Randy, WI7P was just on AO-27 from Ketchikan, AK
CO-45. About 2245Z Thursday. Maybe he'll show up
on AO-51 tonight? If you need it, keep an ear peeled!

Hi Keith, N6ORS

P3E is like the Arabian Phoenix, there can be no doubt that the bird
exists under construction in the labs of the AMSAT-DL but for the
moment nobody know anything about the launch date.

By the way I believe in the efficiency of AMSAT-DL othervise after
4 + 1/2 year of waiting after the AO40 failure I had already removed
all my satellite antennas from the roof changing my amateur radio for
the hippic.

So, we don't have a HEO sat yet, the others are getting older, we are not
interested in supporting ASMO/ESMO or expanding AMSAT via education
outreach, and the board is looking for suggestions?

What do I need to connect my G-5400B to my computer in order to
automate satellite antenna tracking?

I'm current using Ham Radio Deluxe. I've heard of the LVB tracker,
and the GS-232 but I wonder if there is a cheaper or easier solution,
being that the software program now does a lot of the functions (or so
I believe it does).

Indeed, he was on one of the evening AO-51 passes. In addition, KL1WE
& W6HF are also returning from Alaska to California; as well as AK, you
can later look for YT and also uncommon-to-rare BC grid squares. So do
not neglect Pacific passes on AO-51 and SO-50 for at least a week or so
and also AO-27 (albeit in Alaska, one can't hit it before the telemetry
if one is too far north).

P.S. Remember, AO-51 is in mode J-FM on the 'QRP' side (435.15/145.88)
this week.

I heard AO-51 on the 0152z pass here in Las Vegas, NV and finally heard the
signal when it was Northwest of this site and pretty weak. I know the
435.150 in in QRP mode during this pass. Just curious, how much output is
it?

How does Houston Control control the ISS when they have to close shop
due to, say, a fierce, approaching hurricane?

Well, it?s happening right now. Eleven laptop computers in a nearby
hotel are controlling the ISS, since NASA's Johnson Space Center in
Houston closed Thursday due to the approaching storm.

The storm has also caused the delay of the docking of a Russian module
scheduled for Friday. Russian flight controllers will execute a
maneuver to place the spacecraft into a safe orbit away from the
station until docking, which is now planned for Wednesday, September
17. If Johnson is not restored to full capability for docking, one of
the backup facilities may be used to command station systems.

Station Commander Sergei Volkov and Flight Engineers Oleg Kononenko
and Greg Chamitoff are awaiting the arrival of the cargo ship, which
is carrying more than 2 tons of supplies including a new shipment of
food and fuel.

Hi!

I will be part of the AMSAT table at the 2008 ARRL
Southwestern Division convention in Mesa, Arizona, over
the next 3 days (Friday 12th through Sunday 14th). There
will be satellite-related presentations at the convention,
and on-air demonstrations. I plan on trying to work many
passes on the FM satellites (AO-51, AO-27, SO-50) and also
FO-29 and VO-52 from outside the convention.

For more information about the convention, please see:

http://www.azhamcom.org/

Stations making contacts with WD9EWK during the demonstrations
at the convention will receive a QSL card. The convention is
in grid DM43ck.

Working for a company that makes videoconferencing gear, and putting
that out as a "disclaimer"... it made me think ... wow... not a whole
lot of excuses for not using modern technology and closing down LOTS
of "old fashioned" office buildings whenever possible, with more
professionals working from home.

Less fuel/cars, less travel, lots of other benefits... and the kicker
phrase to use to get people thinking differently...

"Hey, if you can control ISS from a hotel room..."

Lots of hams with complete "remote control" ham shacks, and clubs
doing it too for the folks who can't have towers/antennas. I'd rather
see those folks able to do what they like with their land they OWN,
including towers if they want. So un-American to put up with
Homeowner's Associations and forced contracts of behavior for your own
LAND... but... it's cool that the technology along with broadband
Internet, allows things to get done easily from "somewhere else",
securely, safely, and it all works.

Of course, the geek in me wants to know HOW they're doing it.
Wouldn't it be cool if there's a bunch of VNC or similar free tools
doing the job? I doubt it, but hey... whatever. They're pulling it
off.

Wonder how they're getting the comms back and forth too... is the
voice comm person in the hotel room too?

Yeah, yeah, I know they have some folks staying in Mission Control...
but it's still cool. And obviously "do-able" to "remote control"
everything -- well mostly everything. (There's mention on
SpaceFlightNow's article that the solar panel pointing, of all goofy
things, isn't something they can do from the hotel room. Wonder why?)

I have never heard anything on DO-64 (but I've only had my satellite

Not quite VE3NPC,KD8CAO,WB8OTH,KC9ELU, and myself are there too when they are
able to find the right uplink on L... But if i can succeed to
have the uplink controlled by a PC L/S will be a greath mode +- path
obstruction (Just hope they will put the sat in this mode again this
winter)

BTW I don't know the extent of L/S mode operation in europe and in the rest of
the world?

Information regarding Delfi-C3 / DO-64,

In Europe, there are enough amateurs working via the Transponder.

No idea what could be the reason for not hearing the bird in other
country's. Do you take in to considoration that this sat doesn't have a
battery and therefor shutsdown when in it in the dark?
