We use them for ATV links using cheap $60 2.4 GHz cameras...
But the band is getting so trashed with WIFI, that the typical 4
mile range we were getting is down to a few tens of feet
depending on nearby WIFI (which is everywhere)...

I tried it last week, maybe two weeks ago with nothing heard. Of course,
I don't remember if I was in eclipse or not.

It's a good idea to check on these things every once in a while. You
never know when another satellite is going to start working after 25 years.

Thanks for the good information Domenico, that difference in dimensions is
important because of the fine teeth on the gear.
I also have an old Kenpro pot (somewhere)!!

I tried Delfi this weekend as well. As Sebastian stated the CW beacon was
very strong at times. I could never find my signal (or anyone
else's) regardless of how much I tuned.

IC-910 and 40 el uplink, 22 el down and mirage KP2.

Hi Tim.

Not sure of the lower limit, but 200W ERP linear polarisation works well
here.

However, it is a weak downlink so using CW 'dits' to find your own signal is
much easier than trying to hear your own voice as you are tuning and
speaking.

I give a listen about 1 or 2 times a month.
?
There's?a lot of junk?around the beacon frequency.
?
Does the beacon also have the deep slow QSB?that was?characteristic of QSOs
through AO-10?
?

A few weeks ago someone posted a link to an article about de-sense. I thought
I had saved the message but now I can't find it. If anyone has the link
location I would appreciate it if they'd forward it to me at al1f(AT)arrl.net.
Thanks!

Has anybody tried to use other methods of sensing than the pots? I'm
currently trying an electronic compass. First results are promising.

Eventually I want to completely replace the Yaesu controller.
