hi Gordon

if I use home brew it is possible in space ?, Sun solar hardener it possible
damage the antenna
any solution ? Factory build ? if possible already tested in hardener and
for Space use.

btw want to use in VHF and UHF

thanks

Turnstile antennas are actually pretty easy to make. At its simplest,
it's four bits of wire about 1/4 wavelength long, with a 1/4 wavelength
phasing loop joining them. Note that the lengths of the elements and
the phasing loop are going to be actually 1/4 wavelength multiplied by
the velocity factor, which for the elements will be so near unity it's
not worth bothering with (make them a tiny bit shorter *if* you need
to), and for the phasing loop will be dependant on the cable used - 0.66
for RG58.

You haven't said which frequency range you want the antenna for, but on
UHF I've had excellent results with the K5OE antenna, and I've also had
a lot of success with the "cheap yagi" designs by WA5VJB. The latter I
found a bit "narrow" to tune, though.

Mmmm...passes are a problem down here in SW Florida - initially very few
and those that there are, are low in the sky and at awkward times of the
day!

No SSTV on the last pass over the Western U.S. An unmodulated carrier came
on at 17:38UTC and continued until LOS.

Mode of passes over NA seems unpredictable.

The 17:40Z pass was just carrier until ISS was half way across NA and then
Richard came on and made a few QSO's, one with a school and another with a
VA3

I was sitting with MMSSTV monitoring when the voice TX started.

Next time I will have SatPC32ISS running along side of MMSSTV :-)

Hi all:
The current version of SpaceCam1 supports the following formats:

Robot-36
Robot-72
Scottie S1
Scottie S2
Martin M1

If there is enough public interest and support we can ask ARISS if they will
approve SpaceCam2

Hi,

Go for Scottie 2 please - about one minute per picture, there's no need for
the longer Martin 1 / Scottie 1 format on VHF.

I forgot include the details on Thermal issues.

We do not have convection cooling in space!
All electronics in ISS run hotter than they would on Earth.
The Kenwood TM-D700 has not been modified to operate in Zero-G, without
Convection cooling!

Therefore the official recommendations from MarexMG are the following:

Run the Slide Show mode at 5 minute intervals more.
Set the TX power output to Low or watts.
Set the Image format for Robot-36! (reduce duty cycle)
Do not run Unattended until we have established the stability of the VOX and
set the Audio settings to prevent continuous carriers.
Record the temperature of the heat sink at the Antenna junction.
