I don't know the current status. I will be listening to see if the crossband
repeater is up and running on the 17:03utc pass on 145.8.

Hey folks,

I hope our AMSAT brethren around the world are enjoying this unique VHF/SSB up
- UHF/FM down mode on AO-51 as much as I am. I haven't been as active as I
hoped, but intend to be the rest of this week. I saw a post from Alan, WA4SCA,
who mentioned "talking to himself" for a pass the other day. This morning on
the 12:15-ish UTC pass, I worked Doug, KD8CAO, for my first contact in this
mode, then spent the rest of the pass trying to work Alan.

My entire station here is manually controlled, including Doppler tuning on
both frequencies and tracking the receive side with my handheld Elk log
periodic. I'm transmitting through a 0-gain omni mounted on a photo tripod.
One of my points is, simply, that if I can make a valid contact using this
mode and given my station, I suspect anyone can!

The other point is that I generally see a good number of posts when other
modes are put online, but very little so far about this one. I don't get it.
Where is everyone????

If any of you decide to try a pass that includes EM84 in the footprint, I'll
be easy to find. Just listen for the weak-signaled station that doesn't seem
able to stay on frequency. That would be N3TL, but the operator will be having
a blast trying to make it all work!!!!

Hello Tim,

Your title says it all. "Where is everyone?"

I had the same problem when in Bermuda a
couple of weeks ago.

Nothing heard from the East at all.

Then on the other hand, when sat here in IO80SM,
with most satellites travelling north or south
through mid Atlantic, with mutual passes USA/Canada/EU,
I hear nothing from the West either.

C'est la vie.

Folks

I'm sure you'll agree that BATC, the British Amateur TV club have done a
great job with a video of out recent ARISS school contact over here in the
UK.

The original is here http://www.batc.tv/channel.php?ch=1, select "Richard
Garriott HD" or "Richard Garriott SD".

I have also created converted formats of the video here:

http://www.g6lvb.com/images/RichardGarriotHD.mp4 (59.4Mb) for iPhone,
Quicktime and VLC

http://www.g6lvb.com/images/RichardGarriotHD.wmv (56.6Mb) for Windows Media
Player and VLC

Hi Tim,Dave,
Your points and comments noted - I am afraid that it has been a case on the
main birds that it is either "All"
or "None".
Having worked many of the satellites myself, I felt that perhaps I should
just hang in the background and listen only so that others had an opportunity
also to ease the pile up problems!
However from your feedback it looks as if I should have still been
contributing to the activities and making use of the passes.
Of course the ISS activity has been a key player during the past month
,however here again the pile ups
an uncertain activity appears to be confusing people from the comments on
the BBS.
Cheers

Has a QSL address been set up for contacts with Richard Garriott yet. Is
there going to
be more sstv from ISS?
