Looks like Mike got in a rush and didn't select the correct (145.825)
packet channel but got the old one by mistake. I'm sure he'll catch it
the next time he uses the radio. Sorry for the confusion.

QSL's for the space station operators are normally handled via the ARISS
bureaus. See http://www.ariss.org/oindex.htm#QSL's for the list of regional
QSL bureaus.
SSTV is in the future plans but it will be infrequent.

I plugged in my Heil headset which I use on my Icom IC-756 into the mic
connector on my Icom IC-910H. I got no audio output on the headset with any
SET option that seemed to apply.
I reported this to Heil and got the following reply:
"Yes, Ron, they removed the RX audio from this one model, and we're not sure
why!
No menu thing is available, but there may be a jumper or something inside that
Icom can help you find.
Sorry about this--it caught us by surprise, as well, that they would change
this one model."
The schematic shows a signal AFO going to pin-8 of the Mic connector and the
pinout on page 15 of the manual shows "AF OUT (varies with [AF]) on pin 8.
Has anyone used the audio output from the mic connector? Was there any
"trick?"

I don't think there is a DST fix for Win98, but could you set it to
run under UTC ?

Is there any way to know the repeater schedual on the ISS or is it just a try
each pass to see?
I was reading that the repaeater was working and couldn't wait to get home to
give it a try but missed it and the next day the packet seamed to be working.

Hi folks,
I keep seeing postings about AO-51 being in an SSB/FM mode, but the Control
Op's website and Amsat home page both show FM/FM. Did it just change (so I
missed it), or is it still in SSB/FM? If so, when will it change again?
Thanks,

Hi Kenneth,
The FAQ page that is linked to the SSTV upload site (http://ariss-
sstv.ssl.berkeley.edu/SSTV/faq.php) says:
"How do I QSL or SWL? Details are being finalized for the handling of QSL/SWL
cards. Please check back again soon for more information."
That page is probably newer than the ARISS site, and since Richard's flight
was not directly an ARISS event, it would seem that other arrangements are
being made... Which site should I trust? My card is itching to be mailed...

On the AMSAT home page it lists the current mode - the normal
145.920/435.300 MHz FM repeater, and the cross-mode 145.880
MHz SSB/435.150 MHz FM repeater. The monthly schedule is
available in text form at:
http://www.amsat.org/amsat-new/echo/CTNews.php
Sometimes this link is the best way to see the schedule, when
there is a mode that is not supported in the chart-style schedule
on another page at the AMSAT web site. The current schedule
is valid through Sunday (2 November) UTC. By that time, there
should be a November schedule posted to that web page and to
the AMSAT-BB.
I was on the SSB/FM side of AO-51 for a pass around 0108 UTC
tonight. Activity throughout the pass, with at least 6 or 7 stations
on. After my short time working the non-FM satellites, it is a lot
easier to deal with tuning the SSB uplink to stay within the receiver
and sound somewhat normal on the FM downlink.

This problem keeps popping up, and I'm still working on a solution. The
tools that Emily set up to make the graphic schedule at
http://www.amsat.org/amsat-new/echo/ControlTeam.php are not capable of
displaying all the modes we now run, including a 145.88 SSB uplink on TXa,
and she is not around to update them. Nor will that system allow me to
express special instructions like JOTA only, or SSTV.
The correct and complete story is posted at
http://www.amsat.org/amsat-new/echo/CTNews.php and usually on the front page
(third item down at the moment).
So, until we get this straightened out, it's always best to check the
http://www.amsat.org/amsat-new/echo/CTNews.php page for the AO-51 schedule.
AMSAT needs lots of help right now and maintaining and developing web
content is one of them. Interested members should contact Gould WA4SXM or
Rick W2GPS if they can help.

Ron,
there is audio out on pin 8 but it is a low level output for a TNC, you
would
have to use a audio amp to kick it up to drive headphones.

Subject: [amsat-bb] IT again

again. A computer I use in the ham shack has Win 98 on it and thinks we are
now in standard time. How do I fix it (again). Using IT for tracking.

Hi Bob, W7LRD
Go into the file IT.ini and uncomment the line interesting your timezone.
I use IT with Win 98 as well and the time of my PC is set for local time.
so that I added my own new line.
timezone = CET-1CST
and it works very well.
# Parameters affecting time...
# Uncomment one of these, or make your own:
# timezone = PST8PDT
# timezone = PST8
# timezone = MST7MDT
# timezone = MST7
# timezone = CST6CDT
# timezone = CST6
# timezone = EST5EDT
# timezone = EST5
# timezone = UTC0
# timezone = HST-8
# timezone = KST-8KDT
timezone = CET-1CST
# Uncomment this setting if your local timezone requires it (see ITINI.DOC):
# timezone_offset_seconds = -34200
