Hi eric here is my setup
On 2.4GHZ
Vagi Series WiMAX Directional Antenna
2500 to 2700 MHz Operation.....She seems to perform not too badly at 2.4!
Features
o Compact, Low Profile 16 dBi Antenna Gain Kind of double row yagi!!! very odd
design
o Lower cost compared to other 16dBi Gain Antennas 70$+-
o Very Low Wind Loading. Aesthetic design
o QuikClamp Bracket for 1.0" to 1.5" Pole Diameter
o 45 Deg tilt and 360 Deg rotation adjustments
o Vertical or Horizontal Polarization
o 30" Pigtail with Type N Female or N Male Connector
o Rugged, Lightweight and Waterproof
On L band
25 elem loop yagi from Directive system with about 18W at the antenna.
I have orbitron tracking in azimuth and i manually control the elevation
I finally found a way to fully doppler control the doppler on both uplink and
downlink using 2 programs as HRD does not work with my Yaesu
FT-847 one of the first put on the market with the one way CAT system.
I am in a learning process with the PC assisted doppler control and i will try
to implement doppler control on S and L band but i will have
to tweak and play with the IF'S on the downconverter and transverter...and
this will not an easy task!
BTW manual doppler adjustment is possible on S/L mode but it's like a circus
juggler you have to get some practice but when you became
familiar with the process you can have a full pass QSO.

It is ESPECIALLY important to purchase laptops from reputable, reliable
manufacturers. There's so many variables in the off-brand units...from weird
memory being used to strangeness with the hard drives to un-replaceable
screens and non-standard video standards and limited-to-no parts
availability...
Just know what you need from a laptop, and realize that you generally get what
you pay for.
I maintain a couple old IBM ThinkPad 760ED models. Parts are available all
over the place. Add they run all my Kenwood and Motorola commercial
programming software, as well as all my amateur programming software titles.
Under $300 at better used laptop stores on the Web. Serves my needs well.
Nothing replaces my 17" MacBook Pro, though...(grin).

Hello all,
Does anyone have a Yaesu GS-232A schematic? I had a bit of a power
"burp" in my shack.
I seemed to have burnt up L1003, a ferrite inductor immediately
connected to the power reception. Other components look OK, including
the 5v regulator.
Anyone know the value?
Thanks and 73,
Dave

Going through my "junque" box I came across a transmitter module manufactured
by TRW. Doing a "google" search I cannot find anything at all on this module.
The model number is TRW MX7.5-3 and it is marked for 430 MHz to 470 MHz. The
module itself is 2.0625 inches long by 0.5625 inches high and 0.3125 inches
thick. The heat sink extends on both side of the module and is a total of
2.625 inches long.
There are 3 leads coming out the left hand side of the module and 4 leads
coming out of the right hand side of the module.
Does anyone have any information on this module?

Hi Eric,
Yes, especially for S-band, but that's because my antennas are both narrow
beamwidth. I suppose that you could use something much more blunt, given the
lower altitude of AO-51, as compared with my setup which was designed for AO-
40. I only have 10 watts at shack-level on L-band, and with an 18 turn helix
it's plenty, even after all that cable. My configuration has an active Az/El
rotor system, controlled by my Linux PC, running predict software and a
homebrew controller.

Bob,
I'm not associated with the Hamfest or the club (ACARTS) that runs it. I
just wanted to let the folks on the BBS know about some of the forums there.
You may want to contact the club and let them know about showing the
location on the APRS map.
The web site is:
www.fortwaynehamfest.com
Their flyer states that location is at the Allen County War Memorial
Coliseum Exposition Center

Hey everyone,
I'm wondering whether anyone who uses the BB has had recent contact with
anyone at the QSL.net Web site. I would like to take advantage of their Web
page setup, but haven't been able to get anyone to respond to me via email.
Any direction will be really helpful. Thanks, and 73,

I use GoDaddy for my website. Although it is not free the yearly cost is
pretty inexpensive and I have had no problems in the over 2 years that I have
used the service.

To: AMSAT-BB@xxxxx.xxx
Message-ID: <491DC7CF.5040809@xxxxx.xxx>
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed
Good afternoon:
Hi have liked the way the WA5VJB Kent Britain 144Mhz cheap yagi worked
so decided to build one for 435.
Couple of questions:
For the driven element "hairpin" or J, it shows 1/2" dimension for the
spacing--knowing this might be critical on 435, is that INSIDE spacing
or OUTSIDE spacing??
Also, I noticed what appears to be unusual element spacing for the last
directors in both the 435 and 432 versions. The spacing increments seem
to follow an increasing spacing trend but then the last couple are
different. ie spacing goes ...6.25, 6.5, 6.5, 7.25, 7.25, 7.0, then 7.5.
Is this a result of the computer design for easily progressive build, or
perhaps some error in the dimensions posted on-line??
Thanks,
Curt

I love my NOVA, but for the life of me cannot figure out how to get the
doppler screen to work. No matter what I put in, it's garbage out.
I'm sure many of you have used it correctly. Any hints would be appreciated.
Tnx and 73,
