Where can I get keps for the moon (ao-0) and keep them updated? how much do
they change over time?

Most prediction programs already track the moon although the moonbounce guys
use specialist moon tracking programs.
There are no keps available. The chosen program just knows how to do it.

Hello All,

Managed to hear CO-56 yesterday. Signal was weaker than before and 6kHz
below where my software said it should be.

Eric,

The moon (and sun!) are sufficiently massive that you can't make the same
simplifying approximations. Many programs such as ITrack, SATPC32, Nova,
Trak-SM, etc, all have the capability to generate the required data using
different algorithms which do not require updating. At one time I saw a
program which would generate pseudo-Keps which were good for a few days, but
I am not certain if that still exists somewhere.

That's a DOS program (which probably runs fine under Windows too) that can
compute a set of pseudo-Keplerian elements for the Moon, which are good for a
limited time (a month).

The document file in that archive also includes elements for the Sun, which
can be modeled as an Earth-orbiting satellite. These elements are good for
many years, at least for predicting pointing angles. Some tracking programs,
however, may reject these elements due to range checking on the values.

Hi Eric AF6EP

The very popular software InstantTrack can be used for the Sun and Moon
and don't need Keplerian Elements

Good Evening, everyone.

Is there anyone that has saved and possibly posted any received images from
the 2330z pass of AO-51? I am curious to see how I did...it was close to a
90 degree pass for me...VERY loud signals, indeed.

Thanks!

Curt - I have built lots of there. I use the 1/2 inch as the inside
dimension.

It is best to measure the spacing as cumulative from the rear, not
incremental. That eliminates cumulative errors. ANd you don't have to
subtract. Use a tape measure, or you can buy a 5 or 6 ft steel rule
pretty cheaply at Lowes or HOme Depot.

Here is the referencce I use for LEO antennas:

Here is what I get for the spacings when I subtract: 5.75, 6.25, 6.5,
6.5, 7.25. I think that this is reasonable.

But don't subtract measure it all from a single reference point, the
reflector. The antennas work great. - Duffey

Thanks James.

Yes that is the way I layed them out--using a long rule. I'm an old
gage designer so understand cumulative error stackup.

Those are the same differences I have, but when the chart is used for
the next two elements for a ten element unit, the spacings just look odd.

I'm going to build it as specified. It is that way on several pages so
probably OK.

Now I just thave to get a 300.00 antenna analyzer to figure out if the
match is good on the $10.00 antenna!! ;)

Well Curt, I have the 10 element 432 version up and running FB. I
don't have a 432 MHz analyzer, but these antennas are pretty much
build and play. I wouldn't worry about tweaking them too much. - Duffey

I have been trying the SSTV on AO-51. Sure have not had any success. I
have not heard anyone else or myself. Is anyone else having any
success? I have checked everything possible here and all seems fine. I
can send and receive images to myself so I know it works. Can anyone
verify there operation is working? thanks << John

know the first thing to check is the tracking program time setting.

John, et al:

I had that same issue the other day. One PC said that the ISS was directly
overhead...the other said it wasn't. I found out that it wasn't AFTER
checking with ARISS.NET and seeing Australian stations hitting the APRS
transponder.

Old age does happen. And I'm 36!
