Does anyone know what the Landwehr pre-amps used for the GaAsFET?
I don't see any markings on the device, and one of the former
resellers (Radio Dan) doesn't know either...
Thanks and 73,

Hi
I built the AA2TX 70 cms Easi Lindenblad exactly to the dimensions in
Tony's article. I modified the hub to make use of materials easily available
here in England. A 4 way plastic moulded electrical conduit junction box
makes the hub very easy. I suggest you see if they are available in your
country. I keept ALL the RF parts, dipole and reflectors as specified. I cut
the reflectors slightly overlength the used a file to get them spot on and
all identical.
On receive the Easi Lindenblad worked superbly. Mounted on a short pole out
in the opoen, about 2m above ground, the 80mw cubesats could be copied
almost on the horizion with a short run of co-ax straight into an FT817.
LO-19, my primary test satellite was 59 at high elevations.
I can recomend this design, its far easier to construct than the
"traditional" Lindenblad with folded dipole elements and phasing harness.
Thanks Tony

I don't know which GaAsFET they used, but the 2SC2498 or 2SC2570A are rated at
1 dB of noise or less and they are relatively cheap. The more expensive
replacement type (i.e. ECG) are ECG10 or SK9139.

Hi Bruce,
I have been working on this design for more than two years. It took so long
time because my free time is small, due to my dayly work.
The goal was to get a linear transponder also available at areas where space
and weight is little (with the 1 cell cubesat as a guidline).
At the moment I am working to get a few more of these transponders, and make
it available for people/groups who are interrested.
The design is very small and takes lot of time to get it fully assembled (with
microscope and very small solder iron tip).
The transponder design itself is even smaller than you mentioned. It can fit
on a 7cm x 7cm board (size of a MiniDisc casette) when needed.
I have added some 1cm strip around it for mounting purposes, what makes it a
9cm x 9cm board, what should fit in a qubesat.
The total circuit is made for 3.0V to 4.0Vdc supply, where a light weight 3.7V
Li-ion or LiPo cell-phone battery will fit very well.
Will be continued...

William;
This is wonderful! Can you share complete specs with the AMSAT-BB? How do you
think the multi carrier IMD performance will be? W
Will kits or assembled boards be available? Cost?
I can see a lot of applications!
Imagine if we could convince all the hams who are private pilots to have one
of these installed onboard their private planes? Can it accept a coherent
reference oscillator from GPS?

Just got one of my latest transponder designs out of the prototype status and
into final status.
I made a small presentation in video format.
I'm new to the video world so I'm sorry for the shacky picture and low

Its a small video clip for an even smaller radio...

GO-32 appears to go down with some regularity, however, I get the impression
that once the TechSat team know about it they do the reboot within a few
days. GO-32 has been down for about 3 weeks now.
I checked http://www1.findu.com/cgi-bin/pcsat.cgi?absolute=1 and PCSAT and
AO-51 are the only birds capturing APRS so I assume the 2 APRS channels on
GO-32 are also down.
So, a liaison with the TechSat team would be good to have - a SPOC - single
point of contact on behalf of the BBS and APRS users. Perhaps Bob " Mr.
APRS " as his APRS experiment on GO-32 is more relevant than the small
number and occasional BB users such as me who do all those "Hi" and "Test"
messages.
The downside of the reboot is that it cleans out the directory on the BB.
As a result the BB is not used for anything really important like the days
of KO-25 because you expect it to have a stroke every 2 or 3 months. My
experience is that the impending failure flags itself several days in
advance with about the same symptoms each time. First a couple of
directory entries are skipped or appear out of numerical sequence. A few
days later you can upload a message but not retrieve directory lists. A
few days later nothing but the carrier/no data beacon about every 2
minutes.
The upside is that when GO-32 goes down it forces me to explore other
digital satellites.

What's the difference between a metric version and any other version.
Just multiply the inches by 25.4 and it will be metric.

Hi!
I, along with Larry W7LB and Gerry VE4GTB/KD7MDB, will have an AMSAT
table at the Superstition Amateur Radio Club hamfest in Mesa,
Arizona, this Saturday (6 December 2008). The hamfest is at Mesa
Community College, in the parking lot facing Dobson Road between
Southern Avenue and the US-60 freeway (exit 177). Officially, the
hamfest runs from 6am until 2pm (1300-2100 UTC). More information
about the hamfest is available at:
http://wb7tjd.org/hamfest/
During the hamfest, we will do on-air demonstrations on AO-51 (1421
and 1602 UTC passes), VO-52 (1724 UTC pass - look for me around
145.910-145.915 MHz on the downlink), and SO-50 (1843 UTC pass) using
my call WD9EWK. Please give us a call, if you are on any of these
passes. I will send QSL cards to all stations making a contact with
WD9EWK during these demonstrations.
73!
