Hi group- I recently acquired an ICOM-271H and have it running into AGW and
PCSAT 2.4.2s Decoder. Anyone with a similar setup willing to help me ensure I
am configured properly?

All,

Does anyone know how to store the transponder frequencies for each
satellite with HRD's tracking program? There doesn't seem to be a 'save'
button in the ground control window.

Thanks,

Tony -K2MO

Tony, et al:

I think that is my biggest "issue" with HRD is that the frequencies MUST be
entered each time by hand. It becomes a bit tedious. Other than that, HRD
isn't bad at all.

Happy Holidays!

Hi Tony !

I am NOT an expert user of HRD.

For Cute, Delfi, SEEDS, etc, I put HRD on the
beacon frequency of that satellite and HRD
does the doppler correction.

In that special pop-up window (the tracker)
at the bottom right is a small horizontal
scroll bar that allows to save settings for
multiple satellites. That way I have also a
different setting for AO51 V/U and L/U.

I have not tried this for FO29 like lineair transponders,
only for fixed frequencies, simply because I do FO29 etc.
always (embarassed to share that here) by hand using
the TS2000 built-in coupling, but without doppler compensation.

Maybe this helps, maybe (most likely) you knew this already.
Sorry if this is useless, then I apologize :-)

Henk, PA3GUO

All,

This e-mail was sent to the ARISS volunteer team. On behalf of the ARISS
International Team I wish you all a very happy holiday season.

73, Frank Bauer, KA3HDO

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

ARISS Team Members,

I want to wish each of you a very happy holidays, Merry Christmas, and a
happy and prosperous New Year.

This past year has been incredible for ARISS, filled with outstanding new
opportunities and a lifetime of memories for all--> school children,
educators, the general public, ham radio operators and the on-orbit crews.
As we look back on this past year, we continue to be thankful for the
support of the on-orbit crew members who volunteer their precious personal
time to operate the ham radio system for us. And we thank each one of
you---the ARISS volunteers---for your outstanding support to the program.
This program would not be possible without the phenomenal hardware
development and operations support provided by this internationally-based
ARISS team of volunteers. While we are called radio Amateurs, you are
definitely PROFESSIONALS in my book.

Let's continue our efforts to instill inspiration and interest in space
exploration and ham radio..through the excellence we bring to our efforts
and our interactions with ham radio operators and the general public.

Thank you all.

73, Frank Bauer, KA3HDO
ARISS International Chairman

Here is "MY" translation of an article from AMSAT-DL web site

http://www.amsat-
dl.org//index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=35&Itemid=97

It was my best way to wished you all a Merry Christmas and a happy new year
2009 with this probably best refreshing news about amateur HEO
satellite in 2008.

SpaceX with AMSAT DL
Written by Peter G?lzow
Tuesday, 28 October 2008

This was the fourth and successful launch of the Falcon-1 rocket on September
29 2008 of the SpaceX program. It is the beginning of a new
era . This first purely privately financed launch using a liquid fuels
operated rocket, which can bring pay loads into a stable earth
orbit.

SpaceX (space exploration Technologies corporation) was created of the
entrepreneur Elon Musk as a privately financed starting up
enterprise for the building of a large extent re-usable two-stage rocket, the
Falcon in June 2002.

On the occasion of the successful launch of the Falcon-1 rocket AMSAT DL
president Peter G?lzow congratulated the SpaceX team and Elon
Musk personally for this huge success. AMSAT DL follow the activities of
SpaceX already for quite some time with large interest, especially
regarding a possible co-operation and launch possibility of the AMSAT P5-A
Mars mission.

On 9 October 2008, a meeting with SpaceX in the central development lab of the
AMSAT DL in Marburg was organized in a relatively short
notice. Jonathan Hofeller of SpaceX was received by AMSAT DL president Peter
G?lzow and Hartmut P?sler. Professor Dr. Karl Meinzer, project
manager of the P5-A Mars mission were in addition represented, as well as P3-E
project manager Heike Straube. In the process of theses very
detailed discussions it became obvious and again and again clear that the
guest and the hosts of SpaceX and AMSAT share a quite unite and
same philosophy and approach, and it will only lead again and again to
success. Besides it was to be developed it is interesting to see
that Elon Musk has already his own ideas and plans toward Mars and there is
here quite further thing in common in our goals in the present
time. In the further discussion also the technical aspects were discussed
regarding possible launch configurations for AMSAT P3-E and P5-A,
with the appropriate schedules in addition. After an afternoon of very
informative very positive discussions for both sides future further
deepening discussions were agreed upon. Possibly as a result of it also new
perspectives for the AMSAT P3-E and P5-A Mars mission will
arise.

P.S. If AMSAT-NA set aside his Eagle funds towards P3E can we expect to have a
HEO in 2009-2010? It is obvious that our German friends are
in a very advance state of completion for their HEO project. I just hope in a
TRUE amateur radio spirit that all the international AMSAT'S
will regroup and support the AMSAT-DL project. It is no more a question of
pride but a question of survival for the amateur satellite side
of our hobby.
