Hi Everyone

I have a lot of Bulletins marked BK that I can't seem to get out of
the BBS and are now starting to cause problems when someone does a
list bulletins over the RF LAN link.

How do I get hhouse keeping delete these so they no longer exist in
the listing?

I have set all the durations in epurmess.ini real short but no joy.

My file:

Oh yes...check your init.srv file. There is a line
for "Lifetime for bulletins (days). See what that
says.
I just keep mine for 14 days...you may want more or
less.

A couple questions come to mind. First, how do these
users request the listing? If they type LB they will
get all bulletins still on your BBS. You need to
educate them to use only "L", in which case FBB will
just list the messages since the last time they listed
AND signed out with a command of "B".

Second, is your BBS on 24/7? If not, check the time
you have put in for housekeeping to take place. If it
is set up to do housekeeping at a time when your BBS
is not running, you may not be doing housekeeping at
all.

Hi Bob.

Your 'epurmess.ini' says that no bulletin will be more than 3 days
old before turning into BK.
It should then be deleted (BA) on the next housekeeping. (day 4)
Exept messages to/from VK2TV that vill live for 90 days before they
are deleted.

How does the file 'epurmess.res' look like after housekeeping?
If it looks something like this, then the last housekeeping was ok.

1227554222

File cleared : 1 private message(s)
              : 1915 bulletin message(s)
              : 1916 active message(s)
              : 254 killed message(s)
              : 1916 total message(s)
              : 0 archived message(s)
              : 248 destroyed message(s)
              : 0 Timed-out message(s)
              : 0 No-Route message(s)

Start computing : 08-11-24 19:17
End computing : 08-11-24 19:17

If not, then it has been more than 24 hours since the last successful
housekeeping was done.
(Maybe FBB or the computer has been shut down during normal housekeeping hour)

In that case 'epurmess.res' contains an error message and no housekeeping
will be done until the file is erased.

Erase the file 'epurmess.res' and the next housekeeping should be ok.

Hi Mark.

I suppose you are referring to:
# Lifetime for bulletins. Number of days from message is written
 30
 #

That parameter only tells FBB that it should not forward the message to
the next bbs
if the message are more than (in this case) 30 days since it was written.
The status will be set to BX directly if the bulletin is older than 30 days
since written.

BTW, in LinFBB the file 'init.srv' is called 'fbb.conf' and the format for
that parameter is:
# Lifetime for bulletins (days)
lifetime = 30
