Hi All,
let me start by saying I'm not sure that I'm not confused out of my mind.
On Sunday I compiled 2.6.25.4 and appeared to have my fourport ISA card
(single IRQ) working. I could make out going connections (as reported in
/proc/tty/drivers/serial) and with a TNC on one port I could connect to
a local digi. I didn't check to see if /proc/sys/net/ax25 existed. Given
that there were no errors about ports not being configured I'm assuming
those files were there.
Yesterday I added the USCC card, and all ports - scc and ax - were
reported as attaching but later on as not configured. A check revealed
/proc/sys/net/ax25 didn't exist, but it was there prior to running
rc.ax25. It appears that kissattach may be causing the problem but I
can't be sure yet.
I trimmed rc.ax25 to only contain the fourport configuration and to
attach the ax ports; i.e. it was the same as Sunday afternoon, and I get
the error message. Did I not see it on Sunday??? I don't know now.
Just on the chance that 2.6.25.4 was problematic, I compiled 2.5.25.1 -
same end result.
I'm currently compiling 2.6.18.6 so I can start from a known starting point.
I can't rule out the fourport having issues despite it appearing to be
ok. There are no indicated irq or ioports clashes with other services,
as indicated by /proc/irq and /proc/ioports
I wish I had some hair to tear out.

Oops,
Wrong list although the outcome will eventually impact xfbb.
