Hi Pete and all,
Er, it's Jay Silverheels, he rode a horse, not an SUV. (;->) That was
pretty much the begining like you said, a refreshing change seeing real
people in real roles. Let's not forget the granddaddy of them all Yakima
Kanut, the stunt man in the Republic westerns and master of trick
horseback riding. If I'm not mistaken he also was Yaqui, a contraction of
Spanish meaning we were here first, just a bit of irony I find rather
amusing.
This is Lene Lenape country, a long way from the Chipewa and frankly I
never met one so I can't say anything about their sign language or if a
Chipewa would understand it. Funny how the subject never came up in my
conversations with the Delawares I used to QSO with on 2M simplex before
I moved out of range. About all I know is the name of the river Manasquan
is a screwed up Indian phrase meaning river of islands of squaws. The
largest near me is Gull Island, so where the heck are the SQUAWS???
