This is probably a problem which is gradually rearing it's hea @WW so,
here goes.

Questio: Is there any kind of adaptor to convert SCART o/p to DPMI or even
RCA plugs for that matter. A few years ago, I bought a VCR, as I have a
lot of films on VCR, a DVD R/W and DTB STB. I made sure that all were
compatible in that they had a multitude of sockets from RF to RCA to
SCART. I couldn't find anything which had both SCART and DPMI. I didn't
want the so - called HD as my eyes just aren't HD. The trouble will start
when things need changing. TV sets will no longer have RF i/p as analogue
TV has been scrapped. They won't have SCART sockets either.

I don't think I need to explain more. Say, I change the TV, then I will
have to get new STB,DVD etc. as their o/p connectors will not plug into
the TV. I am not made of money so changing everything at once will be out
of the question.

About five years after that,or so we are told, we will all have to upgrade
to 'Super HD' then, later, when we get the 3D TV sets, using the
techniques
developed by John Logie Baird in the 1940s but hailed as 'modern' we will
have yet another change. You can bet that these will not be backward
compatible, they don't make huge profits that way. In addition, I have a
so called ELP projector, though mine is labelled 'DLP' I don't know what
the letters stand for. All I do know is that it takes video i/p via an RCA
(just phono really) connector and cycles round until it discovers what is
coming in, in my case it is PAL I video. It also has a 3.5 mm sound skt,
only mono for some strange reason. That will probably handle HD but will I
find something with a compatible plug or plugs ? to feed it when I have to
change.

Surely, at minimum, there must be some kind of adaptor which will feed my
lo def signal into a DPMI skt.

Somebody must have run into these problems by now as I always wait until
prices drop before I buy something new and I know others like to change to
the latest thing as soon as it becomes available.

Anyone got any info? There doesn't seem to be anything on the net other
than propaganda telling us just how good digital HD is.

Thanks in advance.
