First thanks go to Peter Harding VK4OD who the
past 3 weeks has assembled QNEWS from the audio
reports filed by VK4's active clubs.

This is a reminder to on how to have your clubs
news broadcast, because time and again we are
asked "how come you don't mention our club
 activities.

It really is simple, we broadcast, in good faith
all material submitted BUT for qnews it must
be in the form of both audio and text.

Take a listen to Geoff and the Matman who week in
week out send us news from their respective clubs,
 Gympie area and Townsville.

Don't send us links to stories, just the audio and
text and let the rest of VK4 know that your club
or group IS still alive and well!

Well, the season's meeting and greeting activities are well under way
with get-together s being held amongst friends, work places and clubs.
The gift wish lists have no doubt been whispered in the ear of the
jovial old man in red and it won't be long before people are making
 their new year's resolutions.

For my part, I would appreciate the summer heat to abate enough to be
able to enjoy some almost comfortable operating during the holiday break.

The word is getting out that some of the clubs that applied for funding
under the Community Volunteer Grant Scheme have received early presents
with email advice of success. Over the border in VK2, the Summerland
Amateur Radio Club have been successful and closer to home, Maryborough
Electronics and Radio Group are now waiting the confirmatory letter.
Congratulations to those clubs who have seen and taken the opportunity
to progress their activities in helping their local community and
 supporting their volunteers.

Amateur Radio magazine arrived this week and with all the reminders
about preparedness that have been given out, there should be every
reason for a good turn out in the Ross Hull Contest and the VHF UHF
Field Day. You can find the rules in the magazine. If you enjoy the
smell of hot solder have a look at the article on paddy board
construction with surface mount components and for the new enthusiasts,
VK3CE looks at test equipment and sources in the Foundation Corner
pages. Some good reading in this December January edition of Amateur
 Radio.
