I have just read Ray's last bulletin. How I went off at a tangent I would
not have a clue. If I had wished to go off at a tangent I would have
turned off the gear and gone fishing. At the present moment I don't feel
that I would miss packet radio at all.
There have been some operators who have been most helpful but also a small
number who have insulted me. I don't have to wear that.
I have been an amateur since some of you were still wet behind the ears,
when we had to build all our own gear unless we had thousands to spend on
commercial gear which most did not. We all helped newcomers and those who
were in difficulties and we did not grizzle endlessly about it and insult
those who were having difficulty.. To help came as a matter of course -
we were all hams tpogether. It was called the amateur spirit. Some should
read the amateur's code (if you have a copy).
Thank you to those who helped cheerfully and patiently including my
present sysop.If any further difficulties arise I know who to consult and
it won't be in a bulletin on packet.
Now I am putting the issue to bed and won't mention it again. I have other
things to do.
