I decided to read a few of the msgs to this topic and was not too
unsurprised to find it was just another string of insults sent SB.

Not even as if the topic was very interesting, just about packet.

What s happened to all those bulls on all sorts of topics which had
nothing to do with packet or even radio ?

I am not saying I have been without my problems, especially since using
Winpack but they have been sorted out by Trevor M1CUK, my sysop by SP
which did avoid the insults.

I am not saying that insults are a new thing either, in fact the first
bull: I ever sent resulted in an insult but they do sem to have become a
way of life on here.

My thoughts go back to a time prior to six years ago when I could use RF
and, after a few problems of my own with TPK, I was treated as an expert
by some people. Again, most of the enquiries were by SP and my replies
were the same unless something seemed to be a common fault when I might
send an SB, The only replies I ever got were in the form of a "thank you"
message.

One hint: It is a good idea to do a regular back up of your prog just in
case of a mystery problem.
With TPK that meant a floppy disk, for Winpack, I have a directory called
WINPACK2.

My only suggestion for what it's worth, about that missing text problem
is, how about using compressed downloads, making sure you are set to Xpert
on the BBS of course ?
