Thanks Charlie.That's easy to answer.

The reason I did not send my ini and BBS settings was that they were NOT
my initial settings. I used settings from a ZL, and from at least three OZ
packeteers, tried them all.Quite obviously the problem was not with those
settings or those people sending them would have had the same problem as I
have. They didn't so settings could  not be the problem..

I have also used prompts sent by various people. None made the slightest
difference.

The problem  is not consistent. It has only happened since I went to
telnet and it has steadily got worse. If there are short bulletins
everything acts normally but as soon as a bulletin goes above about 12 kB
everything goes crazy. That bulletin loses all or some of its text  which
tajkes the place of the text in the suceeding bulletins. Crazy. I don't
know why.

Have a good holiday. I am off to the north in two weeks so I won't be on
packet either.
