"Good Morning ...or whatever...where ever you are reading the YL@WW
thread ... and this comment for Michael ZL1ABS on "Irish Pizza".

Well Michael , I can say , I've never heard of Irish Pizza
and when I look at all the goodies that go into it, my eye
did catch the "bacon" part ...which I can associate with
as the first time I ever saw bacon, it was while in the USA
where they called it Canadian Pizza.

So somewhere they added something to make sure it became Irish.

Thank you for the posting, and all the others, as they have
been added to the YL database that is coming to being and
ready for sending to everyone in the group.

Hi Peter,

I think the Cook on the TV show (Darena Allen) said that the "Irish part"
was using traditional Irish Soda Bread dough (doesn't use butter or sugar
or water or yeast, but uses baking soda and buttermilk) to make something
"not Irish", namely a sort of pizza. She commented that her mother or
grandmother would not have done it (breaking Irish tradition?).
The toppings were those Darena used, though it was said that other items
could be used as well. Pepperoni & proscuto might not be so available in
Ireland?

I've heard it mentioned (mostly by American Cooks) that "Canadian bacon"
is different (better?) to "American bacon". I think it is made from a
different part of the pig or maybe the process is different?

I haven't made Soda bread as I don't have the buttermilk. I have used
yogurt instead of sour cream when making corn bread (works ok). Maybe a
pot of yogurt would substitute for buttermilk somewhat?
