I originated that discussion, as much to create a bit of controversy and
discussion as much as anything else. I have no problem with frogs being
borked (whatever that means) and so on, nor do I have issues with the
numerous messages that are addressed to tech etc. In fact I welcome
messages irrespective of the topic and the content (so long as there is a
measure of decorum).

Like you, I was immensely impressed that a number of us (me EXCLUDED) were
able to present wide ranging and quite often diametrically (spelling???)
opposed viewpoints WITHOUT resorting to ummmmmm unsavoury tactics.

I am genuinely concerned that we may miss a further opportunity to grow
the hobby, just as we have failed, not once but TWICE, in the past to have
on going growth. How we redress it .... well ...... I have my views, but
I doubt that they will be taken on board because, quite frankly, I wish to
popularise the hobby (make it desirable to "normal" people), whilst most
are hell bent of clinging to what once was.

Sadly, those days are gone. I was never a technical guru, but I used to
have a crack at all sorts of projects, but these days I just do not have
the wherewithall (spelling???) to spare the time, let alone other
resources, to such projects. Not when ready made stuff, twice as good as
I could ever hope to create, is so readily available. Stuff with all the
bells and whistles AND warranty and the list just goes on. We, as a
society, is just too darned time poor to do all that sort of thing.

Amongst other things, Shirl, just the dead set PACE of life has sped up to
such an extent that we are less and less able to be "creators" and more
and more communicators. Shhhhh! Don't tell anyone, Shirl, but this hobby
is about communications (whether it is the technical OR the "talking"
aspects) but many don't want to see it that way - nor do we communicate
very well with the ordinary citizens out there about this wonderful,
vibrant and exciting hobby that we have.

Anyway, I thought I would just thank you for your kind comments regarding
the decorum maintained by all the others who participated in that
particular "forum".

I, like you, think all the people concerned should be congratulated! :-)

Kindest Regards

Indy, VK2XB @ VK2XB.#RIV.NSW.AUS.OC
