Hello Everyone on the YL@WW thread ..on the Great Tea Debate!
Yessire! Andy really got something started...
Bob VK6BE: mentioned his glass teapot, and the strainer
built into the metal lid, which I have never
seen here in Canada ...nor can I remember seeing one
when we lived in England and Scotland...doing that visiting
for tea thing. I like that better Bob, then fiddling with
the strainer on a chain in that tweeny acorn with the tea
leaves in...the dipping thing was also done with class
and a great way I imagine in those years to show off the
fancy tea service... many thanks.
Terry G4UEQ: Thanks for your comments too. When you mention
coffee and coffee beans...well being married to
a Brasilian lady ...there is no doubt where our coffee in the
home comes from <g>... As for coffee drinking...and what
you requested... My wife's mother, of native decent, starts
the prepartion of coffee quite early in the morning, boiling
the water, and of course filtering it thru the beans into
a thermos that lasts all day...and is very strong. Brasilians
love their coffee strong..and when visiting one gets these
small dainty cups that you sip from, while you visit . Also
served with goodies and food.
Peter ZS2ABF: Aaaah the UFO man...yes I read it..and BTW
I do give it over to the guys on the UFO net
on 80meters, as a few do... When you mentioned I talked
about milk..it wasn't to boil milk...but add to the cup
before pouring in the tea from the teapot. Please don't
boil the milk...thats 50% mix with water for hot chocolate.
To everyone ... I have enjoyed all...just how you prepare
your tea in the mornings..or whenever. As with most...
for me, it still is boil the water..place in teapot, and
after a few minutes pour into a cup..then
add my sugar or not..or my milk if I feel like it and
kick off the day. I also nuke it in the microwave
when cold...and eeesh..that does have a kick.
As for the South American way with their tea ... well
as with some of their spices etc for food...well some
of the native cooking secrets have never made it to
the store shelfs anywhere...and I have to have it
sent to me. Hope those who emailed me enjoyed the
pics of the "eggplant" looking cup and straw I use
to enjoy my tea from Brasil.
