Aniversary 40 meter activation of Oonoonba Bomb Site
Ray VK4OIL has recieved permission to run a multiple HF Field
station at the ww2 Hertitage Oonoonba Bomb site on Tuesday
29th July 2025. The operation will commemerate the early
morning explosion and a 250 pound bomb at the Oonoonbs site.
Which left a creater and the destruction of a palm tree.
Lucky for the city of Townsville as it could have been much
worse.
Ray plans for the operation to start around o300utc and
complete around 0700utc.
All are welcome to attend with a 40m center frequency of 7100mhz
but further stations will be operational on 20meters as well.
Ray also asks that DX stations in Oz and overseas actively
operate to contact the commemorative stations operating
from the World War 2 Hertitage Oonoonba Bomb Site to help
supporty maintaining the as an important community resourse.
